101 animals spayed and neutered for free!

Over three days at the Lower Bay Pavilion, our 2026 Free Spay & Neuter Clinic with Caribbean Spay & Neuter saw 101 cats and dogs spayed or neutered completely free of charge.

What a result for Bequia!

That means 101 animals now have a healthier future ahead of them, while helping to prevent hundreds more unwanted puppies and kittens from being born into situations where homes, food, and care simply aren’t available.

For a small island like Bequia, that impact is huge.

An annual clinic for our Bequia community

As a nonprofit animal rescue based here in Bequia, part of our work at Chappy House is finding practical ways to support the wider community and improve animal welfare across the island.

This is the second year we’ve organized a free spay and neuter clinic with Caribbean Spay & Neuter, and our aim is to make it an annual event. By offering the procedures free of charge, we can help more local pet owners access important veterinary care while also reducing the number of unwanted puppies and kittens born on the island each year.

For us, the clinic is one of the biggest ways we can make a difference beyond the dogs in our direct care at Chappy House, and we’re incredibly proud to see it growing year by year.

A huge community effort made the clinic possible

A clinic like this takes a lot of people working together, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who played a part.

Spaying and neutering is one of the most effective ways we can reduce the number of stray, abandoned, and unwanted animals in Bequia, so every single animal brought through the doors made a difference.

More than 50 children joined an educational session

The visit also gave us the chance to take animal welfare education beyond the clinic.

Dr. Amanda Hanna visited The Learning Center, where more than 50 children joined a special session on spay and neuter awareness, compassionate animal care, and her journey to becoming a veterinarian.

The session was a collaboration between The Grenadines Initiative, Chappy House, and Caribbean Spay & Neuter, giving the children the chance to learn directly from a veterinarian, ask questions, and understand more about how we can care for the animals around us.

It was a brilliant addition to the week and an important opportunity to get younger generations thinking about responsible pet ownership and animal welfare from an early age.
